I believe in manners—many of them. The main manners that I believe in consists of five words: “Thank you.” “Please.” “Excuse Me.” It is not only being polite but it began to turn into such a habit for me that it became a part of who I am—a natural flow of being kind. The ‘goodness’ of manners sure have taken me a very long way in my life. I believe this is also a way to build my strength and character as a human being. I also believe it is more-so about feeling the feelings of what I say—because I say what I mean.
“Good manners have much to do with the emotions. To make them ring true, one must feel them, not merely exhibit them.” -Amy Vanderbilt
Here is a good example of feeling the feelings of saying what I mean:
I had some people in my life that as soon as I thought about them–I felt such a rage; such anger towards them. What I was not aware of was; I was creating this lifestyle for myself because of how I was feeling. I allowed myself to feel such feelings of hate. I had to simply change my perspective on the matter being that I heard the saying, “Change your perspective on thinking and change your life.” So I took it upon myself and decided to shift my thinking and take realization and become conscious when I felt angry to start sending light and love from my heart to theirs. I did this mantra for a long while until I actually began feeling love towards them–and more so for the whole human race. I opened me up to a whole new world–a world of healing, a world of love, and a new world of imagination I created for myself.
“Respect for ourselves guides our morals; respect for others guides our manners.” -Laurence Sterne
Since we all stem from love, I believe it is significantly important for one to practice love in every way one knows how to. I treat myself kindly so I am able to treat others in a nicely, respectful manner too. I believe this is one way we can learn to bring peace, joy, light and harmony to our world. Living from my heart sure has transformed my whole way of living and being—I look forward to the unknown of my future because I trust in myself—in the Universe, in the beauty of love to help guide me in the right direction. It’s all about choices and what I choose to do is ‘right.’ Therefore, I shall continue to make the choices based from love.
“Life is short, but there is always time enough for courtesy.” -Ralph Waldo Emerson
