It Is Time to Be Free.

Photography by Dianne Furphy, 2012. Let’s come together and break free from the separation, violence, chaos, hate, fear and the judgment of others. It is the togetherness that makes the difference to benefit you and the whole human race. Each and every single one of us are very special gifts here on this earth. It is time to release and let go of the old and embrace the new. It is time to set ourselves free from all the pain and share with one another the love, joy, laughter, happiness, pleasure, and gratification that we so desire within us. Let’s put our heart and minds together to come up with ideas to pass on to our younger generations to help create a healthy lifestyle that will live on forever. Let’s break free from all of our old beliefs and challenge ourselves to overcome and do things we typically do not do.

• Give a smile to a stranger,
• Listen to others when they talk,
• Help others in a time of struggle; offer them your shoulder,
• Accept others for exactly who they are,
• Forgive those who have hurt you,
• Donate money, food, clothes, whatever it is that you can provide,
• Hold a door for someone,
• Go up to a stranger, say hello and wish them well wishes to have a good day,
• Compliment others,
• Always say, “Please and Thank You,”
• Leave a nice comment on a blog or Internet site.

…Do something to take you out of your element, the more you do this, the more you become it. This is your journey, we are all traveling alone and the way we can start changing to the new is to start with ourselves. It is in each of us to bring out the trueness we have inside. We all have what it takes to overcome the struggles to grow and become a stronger person. Let’s face our fears one at a time and dismiss them for good to create an abundant, loving, genuine world for you and all of humanity.

Be YOU in every way you can so you can BE FREE!

“I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do. I am free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them. I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do.” -Robert A. Heinlein

Support a Good Cause: Kaylee’s Fight.

Let’s raise some awareness towards cancer especially being known that the month of September is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. With that being said, a good friend of mine has a precious 5-year-youngin’ cousin name Kaylee who was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called Undifferentiated Embryonal Sarcoma. Kaylee has been a brave and strong little girl during this challenging journey she has been facing. Although I have never met her personally; I read and see picture updates on her Facebook page and just by seeing her photos, I can tell she is a special little girl who has a lot to offer to this world. Let’s show her love especially due to her having 60% of her liver removed and receiving chemotherapy treatments over some time now. We need to give Kaylee all the support we can in every way we can.

Let’s show Kaylee DiGiannantonio we are all by her side by attending two upcoming events that are being held for her:

  1. A Fundraiser Beef & Beer Benefit being held at St. Dominic’s Parish Hall located at 8054 Frankford Ave, Philadelphia, PA on September 15, 2012 from 7pm to 11pm with cost being $35.00 at the door.
  2. A Night of Hip Hop for Kaylee’s Fight on Saturday September 29, 2012 at the Legendary Dobbs (3rd and South Street, Philadelphia, PA) from 9pm to 2am, $10 cover at the door. Performances by Rich Quick, Nico the Beast, Firm Taqtics, and Outerspace; hosted by Sick Six with DJ Cru Cut on the wheels.

Come on out and not only support a good cause, bring a smile because both events are going to be fun times.

Another way to show your support is to be her friend on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/Kayleesfight (please feel free to donate to her directly) and/or you can also send her LOTS of LOVE and prayers. Thank you for all of your thoughts and help in honor of Kaylee. I am positive she and her family greatly appreciate it.

Can you see it?

The photos listed below of the Moon were taken on Wednesday July, 25, 2012 during the mid afternoon, sometime around 3:30pm from Philadelphia. I went outside to play with my child and could not resist to run back in and grab my camera so I could take these photos of the beautiful unique light blue sky. It was a very peaceful day as the sun was still up and shining on me oh so brightly.

As I came in to upload the photos to look through them, I noticed something different in one of them. Can you see it? Although I snapped the photos right after the other, I can only see it in ONE of the photos.

If you can see to what I am referring about, please feel free to share your thoughts and feelings on the moon photos in the comment box down below. Thank you, I would love to hear from you. Much light, love and blessings. -Dianne

Share Love, Be Love.

We human beings are all different, yet the SAME. We may seem to be different by our given physical bodies such as our hair color, our eye color, our weight, our color of our skin, our freckles, moles or marks on our body…but each of these are what makes every single one of us our own unique character. It is what makes us each special. We are in no way separate from one another due to our looks, beliefs, our environment, our culture, even living across the world from another …and so on. We are ALL beings, we are ALL a family and we ALL share the desire to love and to be loved; therefore, it is important to stop judging other’s and accept ALL, everyone for WHO THEY ARE. Everyone has their own sense of style, their own way of thinking, even their own way of learning and behavior, and faults. We all have our own lives, with our own life experiences–our very own journey. Let’s focus within ourselves because it is WITHIN that we ALL share a special desire. Also, keep in mind, everyone around you is a reflection of yourself and what you send out, you shall receive back. Treat others and especially yourself with ALL the love that you can. Focus on the positive and make sure your good outweighs the bad. You can try and do this by focusing your thoughts and actions on what you FEEL is ‘right.’ Since we beings all share that we have feelings and emotions, we sometimes are sad, hurt, happy, joyful, angry, excited…whatever it may be, we all share these feelings together, maybe not at the same time –but if we all share the feelings and emotions of love and gratitude with one another, we can all possibly change the world to live in peace as a united whole with harmony. So today on, let’s choose and decide to …Share Love and Be Love.

“First you must learn to control your self. The rest follows. Blessed is he who knows himself and commands himself, for the world is his and love and happiness and peace walk with him wherever he goes.” -Robert A. Heinlein

My Divine Animal.

All Rights Reserved. Photo copyright to Dianne Furphy, 2012.

I posted this picture knowing it is very special to me because I have noticed over the past several months this bird keeps appearing wherever I go. First I noticed it flying around as I was pulling out of my back alley way with my toddler in the back seat a couple months ago. Then I noticed this bird flying above me as I was at the playground with my child and partner just two weeks ago (The photo listed was taken by me, Dianne at Smith Playground, PA on May 25, 2012). I also seen this bird flying above me just this past weekend while I was at my partner’s football game with my toddler, niece and mother-in-law. This bird flies high above me, circling around, in a diagonal view point from where I stand. I seen it other times in the past too. While this past weekend, I seen it, I was staring at it while I asked my mother-in-law what kind of bird it was. She had no idea. So when the football game was over, as we approached our car, a random guy says directly to me, “Do you know what kind of bird that is? It is a Hawk.” Ask and you shall receive, aye?

Currently, this whole journey I am on, this spiritual journey of finding out Who I Am has brought me here focusing on living in the Now. My main focus is to find out what my true purpose on this earth is. I have one life, I believe we all are very special, talented and gifted beings; we just are not fully awake and aware of it…and I am determined to find out why I exist in this life we call reality.

So, now here I am. Now in this moment, I am writing this blog post in regards to this hawk that has been surrounding me; whether it be the same exact hawk every time; I do not know but I kind of “feel” it is. I also “feel” and believe this special bird is soaring the skies above me for a very special reason. I thank this bird for its company; for it is rather comforting.

Me being the curious person I am, I of course took the initiative upon myself to  do research on hawks and spirituality. The research I have found basically states that Hawks are messengers and that I am awaking to my soul’s purpose. Hawks are also known as “Visionary power, attention, leadership, truth, creativity, insight, and guardianship.” (Hawk, Spirit Meaning, Symbols and Totem, All Totems, n.d.). Also, other information I found stated that when I see this bird, it is trying to tell me something; to be more aware and open in that given situation and that I have a gift/talent that I am may not aware about yet. There is SO much information out there about such topic. Therefore, with SO much to learn about myself  and that every thing is connected in one way or another, I decided to piece together what this animal can symbolize and mean in my own personal life. I have linked together a couple of things that makes sense. All the encounters I remember with the hawk, I had a child/children around me at the time. (A playground, a sports field with families…) KIDS, KIDS, KIDS!!! Kids have been popping up in my life for a long time now. I have recently applied to volunteer at my local library with my toddler to help out with arts and crafts and story time. I have even more-so BIGGER plans with my very own volunteering work. Stay tuned to reading to find out how YOU can be a positive change in your community and how to support and be a part of Create What You Want.

Anyhow, I am really working on finding out as much as I can about myself, as I am sure most of us are. I look back and reminisce with my past and see how far I have grown and evolved. All of my life experiences are what I have learned from to become a better, healthier me. Life experiences are life learning lessons; it took me a long time to figure it out and live by it and now that I am, I am most grateful.

I thought I would share this wonderful experience and insight with you.  As I am sure you have many of your own questions and curiosities as I do. Any other information on this topic would also be greatly appreciated so please feel free to leave any comments and/or personal thoughts in the comment box below. I would love to hear from you; as we can all learn from each other. Thank you.

Much Love to all…

Dianne

“I think I could turn and live with animals,
they’re so placid and self-contained,
I stand and look at them long and long.
They do not sweat and whine about their condition,
They do not lie awake in the dark and weep for their sins,
They do not make me sick discussing their duty to God,
Not one is dissatisfied,
Not one is demented with the mania of owning things,
Not one kneels to another,
Nor to his kind that lived thousands of years ago,
Not one is respectable or unhappy over the whole earth.”

How I came across The Wills Wellness System.

“Understanding that everything exists in this one moment will give hope and light to your life. You no longer need to be troubled by the past, and can know that the future can be anything that you will it to be. You, as you are, in this very moment hold the key to everything.” –Masaru Emoto

Awhile back, I started gaining interest and practicing with yoga, mediation, reiki, even a little tai chi and other natural alternatives to live a healthier lifestyle. During this little journey of mine, no matter where I go, things I think about randomly appear. Literally, I think about something—anything—and it appears to me in its form, right in front of my eyes… somehow, someway. Think about it like this, what I think about are things I like and my interests. My interests consist of things like finding out more about me; Who I Am, what I am here on this earth for, how to make  myself and others happy and help them in such ways, and to just really know the truth about this world and universe and to really explore my spiritual side. Listen to this little—coincidence—as most people would call it. So, I went on a vacation with my partner and two other awesome couples to Mexico [Westin Lagunamar Ocean Resort Villas, Cancan] a couple months back and one of my friends who was staying in the same hotel  came up to me with a brochure and told me as soon as she seen it, she knew I would love to know more (and she was so right)! This pamphlet indicated that I could meet up with a person in the means of “Master of Relaxation.” As soon as I seen it, I did not intend for such an experience to occur right than and there but I was surely grateful for it. This surely was a super cool surprise for me. So, I then …of course, go and find this guy named Charles Wills who I have seen from the pamphlet.

“Life will give you whatever experience is most helpful for the evaluation of your consciousness. How do you know this is the experience you need? Because this is the experience you are having at this moment.” –Eckhart Tolle

Cancun, Mexico. When I first met Charles, we didn’t talk for long but he definitely had a feel good vibe about him. He seemed intelligent and leaving me wanting to know more. He invited me to one of his seminars he was holding at the resort which I could not resist not to go. He again welcomed my partner and me as we approached the seminar. I sat down to listen to his speech and was enthused by what he had to say. He hit all his words on the right button for me. He provided a lot of useful information in regards of being aware, consciousness and advice on how to learn a technique to benefit ourselves and our health. At the end of the seminar, I set up a personal session with Charles. So he came to the hotel room I was staying in; sat up a spot at the table that was in our room and sat my partner and I down and hooked me up to what he called a CIA device. I thought it was pretty cool to see my breathing pattern, my heart rate, even knew when I shifted my thoughts. The best of the whole hour and a half session was the moment I was in a different state-of-being and felt absolutely amazing. The best feeling I have ever experienced in my life. I still practice the technique at home and I do notice an improvement in me—in many aspects of my life.  Charles definitely played a positive influence in my life; therefore, I say thank you to Charles Wills for taking the time out to have sat with me and taught me a life-changing, healthier way of being. I have now became more patient in many situations in my life, less stress, I have learned how to be more open and to say, “yes” to more events that have crossed my path. Most importantly, I am all-around healthier and am learning everything is a process. *Keep in mind, I believe this is a mixture of all of my experiences tallied together thus far. All takes time. I am learning to live in the now. In the present. I am where I should be, little at a time. I am. By knowing this, it makes life that much more smoother, fun and just all around awesome for me. I am most grateful, thank you!

It’s all about the decisions we choose to make. Here is another post I wrote based on decision, decision-making and change. I hope you enjoy!

Smoking: Guided Tips on how to quit smoking cigarettes.

IMG_9948

Are you a smoker? A smoker who quit smoking, then quit smoking again, and then again…. Yup! I am definitely guilty of that. I said to myself I was going to quit so many times…But don’t get me wrong, I had all intentions and even tried. I maybe lasted a day or two, maybe a week on one attempt and on another attempt I probably lasted about 4 hours.

I really wanted to quit smoking though! …And so did my sister. So she asked me to go see a hypnotist and I did just that. It was pretty cool and I learned a lot—especially to quit smoking!!! I did, I quit for 8 whole months. Then one night out, I had a couple drinks and gave in. Opps!! Cigarette craving-1. Me-0. Again.

I smoked cigarettes for many years; I started when I was 15 years young and have been cigarette free for about 7 or 8 years now. Like most smokers, we all enjoy it or it just becomes a habit for us. It is our calm-me-down, it feels good to inhale after eating, when you first get up in the morning, …I know you smokers understand what I mean by, “favorite cigarette time.” …But when you really want to quit, you will! I quit cold turkey because I wouldn’t let anything hold me back from doing what I really wanted to do and I really wanted this so badly for myself. I now despise smoking, everything about it, the way it smells especially. I trained myself to feel this way about cigarettes in general and I think it was the best decision I have made for myself and my health. I have never felt so much better with breathing, less stomach issues, and food even tastes that much better to me. Oh! …and it of course keeps more money in my pocket! So if you said to yourself many times that you are quitting, all you have to do is remain strong and pull through every craving. The first couple of weeks are going to be the hardest but keep thinking to yourself that “this shall pass too” (because it will) and the cravings will eventually start wearing down and soon enough you will be smoke free and not even wanting to be around a cigarette. I have learned it is all about the Will Power and putting your mind to it—and I believe each of us has the capabilities to do so.

“The best way to stop smoking is to just stop–no ifs, ands or butts.” -Edith Zittler

Here I am going to provide you with some personal guided tips that helped me quit smoking. Now keep in mind everyone is different and goes through different experiences and outcomes.

Guided Tips on Quitting Smoking Cigarettes:

  • Breathing exercises. For instance: When I felt an urge to smoke, I stopped whatever I was doing and slowly inhaled through my nose and exhaled through my mouth. As I inhaled through my nose, I said to myself, “I am a strong and can overcome this craving” and as I exhaled, “As I exhale I am letting go of all the cravings.” *You can also make up your own little encouragement sayings to help motivate you to pull through.
  • Drink Lots of Water. Temptations can be hard to overcome, so drinking a glass of water when yearning for a cigarette can help pass the craving. Water also helps flush out any toxins from the cigarettes out of your body; therefore, remember to drinks lots of water!
  • Change Routine. I recall when I smoked, as soon as I got up in the morning; I had to have a cigarette. Instead of going straight for a cigarette, I changed my routine by brushing my teeth and doing something different like going for a walk, listened to a motivational song, even dancing. Anything that you enjoy can help distract the mind.
  • Shift your thoughts. Every time I wanted or thought about a cigarette, I kept thinking of something else. For example: say I had a craving just now, I would try to remember to think about plans I had that was coming up, or thought about what I had to do for so-and-so. It can be hard but try and do your best.
  • Do a hobby; distract the hand. Finding a hobby is helpful because it can distract the mind/hand since smoking is known to play psychological games. The hand used for smoking needs “something” else to do because it is so used to holding the cigarette and bringing it up to the mouth… Try a new hobby such as drawing, painting, knitting, playing games with family and friends, yoga, exercise, read a book, do a puzzle, meditate, play with a squeeze ball or coin; anything to keep the hand distracted.
  • Training the mind. It’s all about training the mind since you are going through a transition. I kept repeating to myself over and over again that I can quit and am strong-willed. I made sure to keep reassuring myself with all of the positive incentives of why I am quitting. I would also tell myself that I do not like smoking and it taste bad (although that was easy because I already did not like the taste of cigarettes, haha). This helps to trigger and shift the thoughts to not wanting to smoke.
  • Support from family and friends. I learned by telling people I was quitting, I had more encouragement and it helped build me more strength and will power to do so since I didn’t want to let myself down, let alone any family and friends.
  • Replace a craving with foods: such as fruit, gum, peanuts, sunflower seeds, hard candy, and/or mints.—>Attached link refers to another intriguing article related to herbs and a natural way to quitting smoking nicotine. I personally liked taffies, specifically dum-dums.
  • Stay Away from: caffeine, coffee and alcohol for the first couple weeks. It has been said that these three intakes will cause you to trigger to smoke.
  • Ask for support: You can talk to your primary doctor about quitting. The doctor will most likely provide you with further information on quitting safely. The doctor can also assist you with further resources that can help you. Moreover, there are many support systems you can turn to; try and look up areas and numbers in your local area. There are also programs and support groups all over the Internet that are available; do research to find one that is right for you!
  • Reward yourself: When you complete your desired goal to quit smoking you gain a sense of self accomplishment which is super rewarding. Therefore, I  have learned that rewarding yourself keeps you wanting to do more for yourself. So when I was in the process of quitting smoking, I made an agreement to myself that every day that passed for a whole year; I knew I would buy a pack of cigarettes everyday so I would put away the amount of money the pack of cigarettes would have cost in a little bank I made for myself. (I even doubled it some day’s thinking that I possibly would have brought two packs that day). I did this for the whole year and ended up having well over $2000 and had reward money to do whatever I wanted with it. Felt really nice to have “whatever-I-want-to-do-with-money!” Sure was a nice vacation in Aruba with my partner in all of our new outfits! Good times by the way.. cheers!!
  • Remember to repeat affirmations: such as “I am a nonsmoker,” “I am strong-willed,” “I can do it,” etc.… This allows you to train your brain to think you are a smoke-free smoker.
  • Other Alternatives: sometimes we need more motivation and encouragement to quit knowing that we want it deeply within. That is why I personally would suggest to try and repeat the prior tips for at least a month. The other alternatives I am listing are ones that are done with the help of professionals and others. Listed below are other alternatives to help quitting smoking:
    • Hypnosis. Like I mentioned in the opening of this post, I have attended a hypnosis session as a group. I went with several other people too and know of others who have went. My own personal perspective and conclusion is that it all comes down to is will power. It’s whether you do or you do not make the decision to pick up the cigarette and put it to your lips and inhale. It comes down to YOU and the choice to smoke or not. I say this because the few people I know that went to  see a hypnotist did what I did—quit for a certain period of time and went back to smoking. One even told me they went back to see a hypnotist for the second time and repeated the same outcome as the first time.
      • I would also like to add in there that I feel seeing a hypnosis would be recommended to do in a group because it encourages you with a lot of motivation to quit. It also provides huge benefits by attending as a group session because it helps you relate to others. Meeting new people and making friends who understand what your going through is a plus too.
    • Acupuncture. I have never been to one nor have I heard of any friends or family. Please comment below to tell your story and experience if you ever received acupuncture. I would love to hear from you!!!
    • Meditation. I did not meditate when I was in the process of quitting smoking cigarettes. Although I do meditate now. I would have to say I am 99.9% sure that if I meditated then, I would be able to quit on a much easier level. Meditation has strengthened me as a person—mentally and physically—in so many aspects. Also, I’ve read a book called, Miraculous Health, How to heal your body by unleashing the hidden power of your mind  by Dr. Rick Levy with Lou Aronica. This book can help you by learning how to meditate by yourself and can possibly help with overcoming any of life’s challeneges and obstacles.

In conclusion, I wholeheartedly would like to wish you the best of luck with your new smoke-free, better living journey! YOU CAN DO IT!!!! One day at a time, take down one craving at a time. Remember all of this will be over faster than you think and you are a non-smoker in no time! You are in charge…. You decide! Good Luck!

“The key is focusing on the positive. Build up the good things in your life and the smoking will go away by itself.” -Author Unknown

*If you would like to add on to this list and/or leave your story, please share. I would love to hear from you. Please feel free to share any experiences you have encountered with quitting smoking in the comment box below. Thank you!
