A Fun Family Event To Attend: Thomas & Friends Live on Stage

Thomas & Friends Live! On Stage.
Thomas & Friends Live! On Stage invites pre-schoolers and their families to enter a fanciful world of imagination and adventure where trains with engaging personalities create exciting stories for young and old.” (Allcroft, 2009).

I am a parent of a toddler who adores trains; especially Thomas the Tank Engine. Since I am from Philly, it is only across the bridge to get to Thomas and Friends Live on Stage which is being held this weekend over in New Jersey. I don’t know who is more excited, me or my toddler; since I love seeing him happy and surprised during new events. So I thought I would share this event for anyone who enjoys outings like this just as much as I do. By-the-way, don’t feel you are missing out just because you are too far away; this event also travels around so look up the lists of local shows and times in your area.

“It is becoming increasingly clear through research on the brain as well as other areas of study, that childhood needs play. Play acts as a forward feed mechanism into courageous, creative, rigorous thinking in adulthood.”                                                              –Tina Bruce, Professor, London Metropolitan

Abuse: Guided Tips on How to Cope Effectively.

“Abuse changes your life…Fight Back and change the life of your absuers by Breaking Your Silence on Abuse.” ~Patty Rase Hopson

  • Stand up and protect yourself! Tell the person abusing you that you are no longer putting up with the down-talk, hitting, screaming, name-calling, punching, or whatever abuse it may be.
  • Do not allow yourself to fall in a trap of believing that you deserve the abuse.
  • Accept that you are better and escape the abuse as soon as you can.
  • A support system is important: talk to a someone you trust. If you feel you do not have anyone; there is plenty of support groups out there. Look up local areas around you for not only support groups but counseling. Sometimes getting professional help is the way to go; depending on your circumstance. It is always important to talk out your own feelings and emotions about what you experienced with the abuse.
  • Call an abuse hotline. Hotlines are anonymous and could help guide and support you.
  • Report to the police. You have options of getting a restraining order against the abuser and other options are available; talk more with your local police district.
